Two things that I'm good at are that I study for tests really really hard and long. Another thing that I'm good at is doing three point approaches. I make my writing neat and tidy and easy to read. The pictures on the three point are very understandable and has to do with the subject.
Two things I need to improve on are that I need to get my work done as neat and fast as possible. The other thing is that I need to start commenting more on blogs so I can up my math mark.
My goals for the next 6 weeks of school are that I'm going to study really hard for exams and finish off the year with a good ending by completing all my assignments.
ADULT RESPONSE:
In look at our work, I would like to compliment you on the following 2 things
good job on the videos and the cro-magnon poster.
In the last 6 weeks of school I will help you reach your goals by:
I will help you reach your goals by reminding you to study everyday.
During the 1st term of this year for math, I have learned a lot of things about, Ratio Rate and Proportion, Square Rooting and Squaring numbers and finally our last subject this term was Pythagoras. The first thing we learned this year was Ratio, Rate and Proportion. I now know that ratio is about comparing two or three quantities in the same units. Rate is comparing two quantities in different units. Proportion is a relationship that says two rates are equal and can be written in fraction form. Square Rooting is when you find a numbers square root. Squaring is where you multiply a number by itself. Most of the time I do my homework. Most of the time. This term 2 I’m looking forward to getting better in mental math, learning more about ways to solve word problems and just bumping up my math grade.
In term 2, I did well on pretty much everything we learned this term such as surface area, Pythagoras, Percents and volume. I did well because I understood what we were suppose to do this term to learn about these subjects. Plus I got some help from Mr. Harbeck and my classmates. What I struggled on this term was commenting on the blogs because I’m too lazy to comment on the blogs that are posted. Next term, I will continue what I am doing this turn and look to improve by looking at the blogs more and doing more homework.I learned that in percents you can have over 100% in increased sales and that Manitoba tax is 12% of the total cost of the item you are buying. Also, I learned that in surface area you must have the right units of measurements to have it correct on a test. For volume it’s the same thing but instead of units squared, it’s units cubed. And finally for Pythagoras, I learned that you must know the correct variable value or you will get the question wrong.
Task: The task of doing this poster is to understand the lifestlye of the Cro-Magnons better.
Intent: The intent of this of this project is to further comprehend visually how the Cro-Magnons lived.
Critera:How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?
Each section of the poster needed a heading
Create visual organizer to show specific details/aspects of Cro-Magnon daily life (home, social organization, food, tools)
Followed rubric given to complete book (title, neatly done images/coloring)
GRADE EIGHT STUDENT ASSIGNMENT- PORTFOLIO REFLECTION TASK/INTENT/CRITERIA Throughout the year I have completed assignments based on Assessment for Learning practices. The learning process has followed the three key components: Subject: English Language ArtsShort story- "Thank you Ma'am" By Langston Hughes TASK: What was I asked to do for this assignment?I was required to compose a friendly letter using information from a short story.
INTENT: Why am I completing this assignment?there are several reasons I am doing this writing assignment. First I learned the elements of a short story and learned to identify them in our story. Next, we learned the components to write in a friendly letter format. Then, we applied specific sotry details and wrote in the first person as if were a character from the short story.
CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?
use proper Friendly Letter format referring to letter frame
compose the rough copy letter using specific details from the short story and write the letter from the perspective of one of the main characters in the story
remember to use appropriate tone and audience for the letter
complete all steps in the writing process as set out in the assignment directions
My topic is on Child Labor Across the World. Some big questions that my group had were what is child labour? Who is involved in or affected by child labor? (give details and examples) Explain how. And when did this issue begin? Some key points that we've researched are that there are 247 child laborers around the world and that these children are deprived from their education and childhood. Currently, my group is editing our video , we're just putting on the interviews. The project is due in May 11.
